According to the Deputy Minister of the Economy and Development of Greece, extensive investments are expected in Greece. The country’s policy is focused on changing the international investment interest and directing them into new and emerging sectors which, according to Mr. Pitsiorla, are the areas of health, tourism, energy, transportation, shipbuilding, industrial production in general, and the agricultural sector. These sectors are being developed but with so much investment so far.
Regarding the investor’s demand for special treatment in terms of environmental protection and the cultural heritage of Greece, the Deputy Minister said that the assimilation and the protection of seas, water resources, and forests are the central interest of social and economic development.
Mr. Pitsiorlas also confirms the growing investment interest of large foreign companies, mentioning the decision to set up a large tobacco plant in Northern Greece and the forthcoming exploitation by another multinational company in the field of both textile and pharmaceutical cannabis
