The Ministry of Immigration Policy amended the possibility of extending the residence permit for Third-Country Nationals. In particular, residence permits that expire from 18th January 2018 until 28th February 2018, can be extended until 30th June 2018. During this period, Third-Country Nationals, holding a residence permit, that expires from 18th January 2018 until 28th February 2018, are considered to be residing legally in the country and have the right to exercise any legal action, which is granted by their residence permit, since it is considered to be automatically extended. It is considered that the abovementioned Third Country Nationals are residing legally in the country and during the abovementioned period no decisions regarding administrative deportation because of the expiry of the residence permit will be taken.
However, an application for the extension of the residence permit and the issuance of the residence permit in an accelerated manner is foreseen, in cases where there is a serious reason for such urgency. The validity of the residence permit that will be issued, starts the day after it is issued.
