An amendment was made by the Ministry of Immigration Policy regarding the possibility of renewing the residence permits of third country nationals. More specifically, residence permits that expire from 18 January 2018 until 28 February 2018, can be renewed until 30 June 2018. During this period, third-country nationals holding residence permits with an expiration date of 18 January to 28 February 2018, are legally residing within the Greek Territory and free to proceed with any legal act allowed by their residence permit, since their residence permit is automatically extended. The above third-country nationals are considered to be legally resident in the country and no return decisions should be issued during this period, due to the expiry of the residence permit.
However, it is possible to receive an application as soon as possible in order to renew the residence permit and to issue a residence permit in cases where there is a serious reason for the acceleration. The validity of the residence permits that will be issued starts the next day from the date.
